Connect your Shopify store to Juno
Install Juno from the Shopify App Store, what comes across from your store and how often, and what disconnecting or uninstalling actually does.
On this page
Connecting Shopify brings your products, recent orders and abandoned checkouts into Juno, so the team and the AI assistant can answer "where is my order?" without switching tabs. You install Juno from inside your Shopify admin; there is nothing to copy or paste.
Before you start
- You need to be able to install apps on the Shopify store — the store owner, or a staff account with that permission.
- Connect a messaging channel as well. A store on its own gives Juno orders to look at but nobody to talk to. If you have not connected WhatsApp yet, see Connect your WhatsApp number. You can do it before or after Shopify.
- One store belongs to one workspace. A store that is already connected to another Juno workspace is refused until it is disconnected or uninstalled there.
Install Juno
- In your Shopify admin, open Apps → Shopify App Store and search for Juno: WhatsApp & AI Inbox.
- Install it. Shopify shows the permissions Juno asks for — accept all of them. An install missing a permission is refused rather than half-connected, because a store that looks connected but never sends orders is worse than one that says it failed.
- Shopify sends you to Juno. Sign in, or create your account if you do not have one yet. Juno holds the approval in the meantime, so you do not have to start again.
- You land on Integrations → Shopify while Juno finishes the install. If your workspace has no messaging channel yet, Juno takes you to pick one next.
When the page shows Connected, the store is attached.
Installing from the App Store also moves your Juno plan to Shopify billing — your subscription then appears on your Shopify invoice. If the workspace already has an active Juno subscription paid by card, the install is stopped with a Go to Billing link: cancel that plan first, then open Juno from your Shopify admin again. See Plans, usage and credits.
What comes across
| From Shopify | What Juno does with it |
|---|---|
| Products | One catalog item per variant, so a shirt in five sizes is five items. Up to 500 variants; a product that would go past the limit is left out whole, never half-imported. |
| Stock levels | Kept up to date as they change in Shopify. |
| Orders | The last 60 days are imported when you connect; new orders and status changes (paid, shipped, cancelled, refunded) arrive as they happen. |
| Customers | Created as contacts from their orders — matched by phone first, then email — with their order count, total spent and last order attached. A name you typed in Juno is never overwritten. |
| Abandoned checkouts | Kept so you can send a recovery message, if you turn that on. |
Products and orders from Shopify are read-only in Juno. The catalog marks them Edit in Shopify, and that is where changes belong — the next sync would overwrite an edit made anywhere else.
Imported past orders never trigger a message to the customer. Only orders that happen after you connect can send a notification.
How long it takes
The first import runs in the background straight after you connect, so you can carry on working. A small store is done almost at once; a store with years of orders and hundreds of variants takes longer. There is no progress bar — you will see the counts and times fill in on the Integrations → Shopify page:
- Products shows how many products are in your catalog and the Last sync time. Sync now pulls them again immediately. Otherwise new and changed products arrive on their own within the hour, as long as Keep products in sync is on.
- Orders shows the Last import time. Import recent orders re-reads the last 60 days, which is useful if you think something was missed.
Turn on order notifications (optional)
Under WhatsApp notifications you can have Juno message customers when an order moves: Order confirmation, Order shipped, Order cancelled, Order refunded and Abandoned checkout. Every one starts off.
Each needs an approved WhatsApp template, because these messages usually go out when the customer has not written to you in the last 24 hours — see Message templates. Tick the ones you want, pick a template for each, choose the Send from number, and Save settings.
The abandoned-checkout message is marketing, so it is sent only to customers who agreed to marketing at checkout, and a customer who replied STOP will not get it. Abandoned-cart delay (minutes) sets how long Juno waits — anywhere from 5 minutes to 3 days. Recent notifications below shows what was sent, skipped or failed, and why.
Check it worked
- Open Catalog and confirm your products are there.
- Open Orders and look for a recent order from the store.
- Place a test order in Shopify. It should appear in Orders shortly after.
If orders stop arriving, look at Last webhook received and the Webhooks section on the Shopify page. A topic marked ✕ is not registered; Re-register fixes most cases.
Disconnecting
There are two ways out, and they are not the same.
Disconnect store (in Juno, at the bottom of the Shopify page) removes Juno's webhooks from Shopify and forgets the store's credentials. Products from the store go inactive in your catalog, and orders already imported stay — they are then labelled Shopify (disconnected). If your plan was billed through Shopify, disconnecting also cancels Juno's subscription at Shopify, so that charge stops, and drops the workspace to the free plan. Juno itself stays installed in your Shopify admin until you uninstall it there — the Shopify page in Juno says so next to the button.
Uninstalling Juno in your Shopify admin ends the Shopify charge too, because Shopify cancels an app's subscription when the app is removed. After an uninstall the page shows Needs reinstall: orders and checkouts stop arriving, but the connection is kept. Reinstall soon and it picks up where it left off, including orders placed in between. About 48 hours after an uninstall, Shopify asks every app to erase that store's data, and Juno does: the connection, the Shopify orders and the mirrored products go. Contacts who also talk to you on WhatsApp or email are kept, minus their Shopify details.
